Heat or chemicals: Temperature-hot or spicy-hot foods usually cause tingling. Other causes are infection, bacterial vs fungal vs viral.

Neurological?: The usual suspects are foods, trauma (tongue bite) , the start of a "cold sore" , however it could be neurological issues ranging from damage to the mandibular nerve (think wisdom tooth extraction or less likely a tumor) or even a symptom of a stroke. If it continues, see your dentist or md.
