Can you explain what combined modality treatment for breast cancer is?

Surgery, Chemo-, RT.: Breast cancer is best treated by a combination of the above 3 treatment modalities. Surgery is usually the first line of treatment, either mastectomy or lumpectomy. If a lumpectomy is performed, radiation therapy is always indicated, and sometimes even recommended after mastectomy. Chemotherapy is used to treat some breast cancers, depending upon the stage; this may include a pill and/or IV rx.
