Crossbites: It really depends on where the crossbite is located and whether or not the crossbite is skeletal or just dental. The best way to find the answer to your question is to get a consult with an orthodontist. If the crossbite is in the back and is skeletal (due to the jaw being to narrow) then an expander may be best. If not, then braces should work fine.

Not cured..corrected: A cross bite is a condition that can be tooth caused or skeletal. The cross bite is a result of your teeth being misaligned and orthodontics may be able to help that. When it is skeletal..That might require surgery (from an oral surgeon) to correct the situation. An orthodontic workup will point you in the right direction.

See a Pro: In children under 7 see a pediatric dental specialist. Over 7, see an orthodontist. Both specialists are trained in determining whether cross bite is dental or skeletal. Dental cross bites are corrected by moving teeth. Skeletal cross bites are corrected by widen tin jaws. See a pro for differential diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
