Are there steroids in aromasin (exemestane)?

No: Of the 3 aromatase inhibitors (anastrazole-arimidex, letrozole-femara, exemestane-aromasin), Aromasin is chemically based on a steroidal type backbone. The drug or its formulation does not contain additional steroids. It was hoped that this steroidal nature would avoid some of the negative bone side effects of other ais but this has not been evident in clinical trials.

Aromasin (exemestane): Aromasin (exemestane) is not a steroid but blocks conversion of estrogen to an active form. This medication is commonly used in treatment of estrogen receptor positive breast cancers.
