Scars are permanent: Hidradenitis suppurativa can be a very debilitating condition with chronic pain, drainage and infection. Multiple small surgeries or sometimes larger more radical procedures may be indicated. Unfortunately scarring is inevitable and the priority is ridding the apocrine gland tissue to prevent recurrence. Scar treatment options after complete healing include topical silicone, cortisone and laser.

Remove the scar: Often the scars require removal and a skin graft if severe. If the scars are nor too severe steroid injections may help.
