DM2: Dm2 can be treated either by family physician, internist or an endocrinologist. Once a diagnosis is made if it is a new onset diabetes usually treated with oral hypoglycemic agents. Generally if patient presents with more than 300 blood sugars patient may need to be on Insulin in addition to oral hypoglycemic agents. Other treatments ace inhibitor, cholesterol meds, life style modifications, diet.
