Toothache: Nerves and blood vessels make up the dental pulp, the soft stuff that resides in the heart of a tooth (in the root canal system). Inflammation of the pulp is known as pulpitis. It may be transient and reversible or worsen and become irreversible, which warrants root canal therapy to remove the infection and associated pain.

Pulpitis: Itis means inflammation and pulp is the nerve and blood tissues inside of the tooth. So, basically you have inflammation or an infection inside of the tooth. There are many different causes of pulpitis but almost always require a root canal. Discuss your options with a dentist for further information.
