A member asked:

Are allergies heredity?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Is a strict sense no: Allergies do travel in families but the genetics and heritability of allergies is very complex. With two allergic parents, it is a 50/50 chance that a child would be allergic. What is passed on is the ability to be allergic not a specific allergy or a specific manifestation of allergy.
