Couple of meds: Herpecin-l is an over the counter chapstick type medication. Zovirax (acyclovir) is good if the canker sore is from herpes.

Wait: Healing takes time. Normally a canker sore will take about two weeks to heal, treated or not. The best treatment is to use a topical anesthetic for comfort as needed. If canker sores are persistent, longstanding and frequent they may be more serious and should be evaluated by a dentist.
