More weight more ins: Acanthosis nigricans is a thickening and darkening of the skin of the neck and other body creases in response to high circulating Insulin concentrations. With greater body weight people are more likely to become Insulin resistant and need high Insulin levels to keep the blood sugars in a normal range.. They are therefore more likely to develop acanthosis.
