Priapism: Painful prolonged erection can occur when the blood supply that causes the erection does not return to normal. This can happen with taking ed meds such as viagra, cialis, levitra (vardenafil). It can also happen for no reason at all. If the painful erection lasts more than 1-2 hours, get help! call your doctor and get seen immediately or go to the local emergency room. Loss of penis is rare but possible!
