Burns: Treatment of burns is based on the severity of the burn (depth and area). Superficial burns (sunburn/minor scald) can be safely treated with topical creams with aloe. Deeper, more extensive burns require evaluation to determine the best therapy. Extensive scald burns, flame, acid and lye burns, and electrical burns ought to be seen by someone experienced in burn diagnosis and therapy.

Depends on depth: First degree burns are just red skin, with no long term damage. Not much care needed there. Second degree burns have blisters. Keep them clean and bandaged until the skin underneath has grown in. Third degree burns have charred/damaged skin and /or deeper tissues. I would recommend seeing your doctor for any significant 2nd degree burn. You must see your md for a 3rd degree burn.

Burns: Burns are a special type of wounds that requires different types of care depending on the depth of the burn, location, extent, and complicating factors. Visit your local burn center or at the least a wound center so that your care can be referred.
