Depends: If you re planning on the first trimester screen or NT test it may be done between 11-14 weeks. Otherwise your md will usually perform a fetal survey at ~20 weeks+/- 1 week. It is not absolutely necessary to have two sonograms and is something for you to discuss with your md. Additional ultrasounds may be needed if you have other problems like diabetes or elevated bp.

12, 20 weeks!: Great question! i would strongly recommend getting a formal sonogram and nuchal translucency screen (along with other screening) at 12 weeks and a detailed anatomy scan at 20 weeks. Take Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily. Good luck!
