Yes: Exercise makes you more fit. It increases blood flow and oxygen uptake everywhere, including your brain. Exercising regularly has been shown to decrease the risk of dementia as well.

Also....: In my mind, it's always been a bit of a chicken/egg thing: are people who exercise smarter because they exercise, or are smart people more likely to exercise in the first place? :).
