Lack of protein: If you experience hair loss during the first year or so after bariatric surgery then you are not taking in enough protein. I recommend a minimum of 70 grams of protein daily for patients after weight loss surgery. This requires protein supplements typically in the first month to 6 months depending on the type of bariatric surgery performed.
