Duration: Depakote er is a branded drug which can be taken once daily. Steady drug levels are maintained, and adverse events may be lower due to lack of peaks in the blood stream. There are now generic forms of immediate release "depakote", but these must be used two or three times daily to achieve a consistent effect.
