Right away: Depending on the type of iud, you may have ovulation suppressed or not. The iud works in part by stimulating your cervix to make a thick mucus plug to keep sperm out. It's possible that if you have a hormonal iud (mirena) it will take some time to return to normal fertility, but if you don't want to get pregnant, use another method of birth control right away.
