HPT Usually Reliable: The home pregnancy tests are usually pretty reliable, but may not be accurate during the earliest parts of a pregnancy. Tubal ligations are usually very effective, but they do not offer 100% guarantee of preventing pregnancy. So, there is still a slim possibility that you could be pregnant. I recommend another hpt in a week or two; if there are still problems, please see your doctor!

Check records: I would get a copy of the operative report to make sure a bilateral tubal was done. Just because you didn't see 2 bottles doesn't mean both tubes weren't done. Most of the time specimens don't go to the recovery room but go right to pathology. Now, having said that even having had a tubal there is a possibility of pregnancy and ectopic or non uterine pregnancy. See a doctor for a blood test.

See your doctor: It's not very likely that you are pregnant if your surgery was done correctly, but if you are concerned about your health you should see your doctor. There is a very small incidence of tubal pregnancy after tubal ligation even when it is done correctly. Tubal pregnancies can be life threatening. Also, missing a period can be caused by many other things unrelated to pregnancy.
