Rheumatoid arthritis: Can cause damage and destruction of any joint. In the ankle area, this process can cause pinching and pressure on nerve endings traveling towards the toes, causing the typical nerve pain, numbness and tingling typical of neuropathy.

Yes: Particularly if there is a vasculitis present. However, keep in mind sometimes you can have rheumatoid in combination with some other reason you have neuropathy.
