Why would a doc recommend coronary artery bypass graft surgery?

CAD: Coronary artery bypass graft surgery is generally recommended for those that have severe coronary artery disease (cad). This is commonly referred to as "blockages" in the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. While many blockages are treated with stents, extensive, complex or particular high grade lesion may be safer and achieve better results if corrected by a surgical approach.

Blocked Arteries: The primary reasons for having bypass surgery recommended is because the coronary arteries, or blood vessels that go to the heart muscle, become narrowed. By doing a bypass, the heart is able to get oxygen in higher quantities than it had before. Studies show that having a bypass done in these situations will increase your life expectancy.
