Sun protection!: Taking care of your skin is key to long term health and prevention of melanoma and other skin cancers. Regular and repeated use of sunblock as well as wide brim hats and sun rated long sleeve shirts and pants all will protect your skin and keep you looking younger as well. If you have a strong family history of melanoma or skin cancer, have a dermatologist give you a thorough exam.

Sunscreen use: I agree with dr. Bowman on the avoidance of sun (especially between 10 am and 4 pm) and the use of broad-spectrum sunscreen (blocks uva rays that cause skin cancer and uvb rays that cause aging) and protective clothing. But be careful that you don't use sunscreen in order to spend more time in the sun. No sunscreen can completely protect against skin cancer.
