Now!: 'swelling' may be many things, but don't hesitate to call your surgeon as they will be the best one to evaluate you for this. Redness around the incision may indicate infection, or simply a fluid collection (seroma) which can be quite normal, but call your doctor and let them know asap.

Now: Anytime you are concerned especially since you just had surgery you should call. It may be normal post op but you may need evaluation with abdominal exam to be certain.
