During the first trimester of pregnancy is shark cartilage safe?

Probably not safe: Contains substances called antiangiogenesis factors that inhibit the growth of new blood vessels, so have become popular as a supplement for individuals with cancer and for use in osteoarthritis. Its effects on fetal angiogenesis and the growth in general is not studied and no data is available so far. So i would recommend to not to use it untill is proven safe.

No: During the first trimester it is particularly important tt avoid substances that can contain toxic agents or interfere with blood vessel development. I don't see why one would take shark cartilage at any time during pregnancy or while breast feeding.
