Poison oak: Wash the affected areas with soap & water to remove as much of the irritating oil (urushiol) as possible; pat dry. Topical Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or light application of steroid (cortisone is otc) may help itching & rash. For sever reaction, see doc for either steroid injection or rx for Medrol dose pak (steroid which is tapered down over several days). Avoid scratching as that may spread oil.
