3yr old says his abdomen hurts and needs a catheter but when i cath him very little or no urine comes out. what should i do?

UTI?: I presume he has spina bifida or similar problem. If there is not much urine, then the symptom is called urgency and could be a sign of an urinary tract infection. Please arrange to see his doctor for an evaluation of this problem.

Need information: Cannot answer the question without knowing why your child is on intermittent catheterization and whether or not they are incontinent between caths. Most typically the sense of abdominal pain and need to cath despite an empty bladder is related to bladder spasms.
