Scabies: itchy bug: For years a home remedy for scabies included the over the counter product known as lindane. This is a 1% solution of permethrin. But, over the past couple of decades these litter buggers have become more and more resistant to this treatment. Thus, unfortunately you need to get a prescription for the stronger and more effective 5% solution of permethrin. Then you need to use twice over night.

Scabies: If you have scabies it can require a fair effort to get rid of it. First, you and all the members of your household will need to be treated. Ivermectin is an effective medication for treating scabies (either oral or topical). Second, you will have to clean (ie. Hot water in machine the clothes, bedding and towels you have come in contact with). There may be some things like pillows that can’t go.

Mites: Scabies is a skin infestation caused by a very tiny insect. No rash, but very itchy. Passed from person to person contact, possible from person to cloth contact. Fortunately, once diagnosed the treatment is inexpensive and effective, a chemical bath. Good luck.

See below: This is for "regular" scabies, not Norwegian scabies - another bug. 1) Wash all bedding and clothes in hot water. 2) May want to steam clean all carpets 3) Wash in permethrin cream (everyone in house, infected or not) 4) Alternative is a medicine called ivermectin 5) If rashes, fever, or feel ill, see a doctor to check for secondary infections.
