Genetic and various: The exact cause is unknown but runs in families it is known as primary. If it occurs in older people with underlying chronic diseases it secondary. Parkinson's disease may cause the problem, also diabetes, multiple sclerosis and some collagen disease. It may present like irritable bowel syndrome and abdominal xrays show. There is no cure and medications may help. Surgery is a last resort.

Probably genetic: It is a rare condition that causes repetitive episodes of symptoms of bowel obstruction without evidence of blocking . Good Luck
