Type and stage: The type of cancer and its stage determine the outcome. Some cancers are very treatable and some are not. A very early cancer might be cured where an advanced cancer would be quickly fatal. Also we are beginning to learn that certain gene mistake patterns in a cancer might make it more aggressive that a similar appearing cancer.
