Is there any way to get cured of diabetes?

UNFORTUNATELY NO: Once a diabetic, always a diabetic. Except... New onset obese diabetics that lose weight and keep it off, may be able to fend off the disease for many many years!

AvoidDrivers&BestTx: Sugar control complex but is sugar, thus ??sugar intake, all forms. Go high fat, moderate protein, extremely ?sugar/carbs, study taubes, attia, lustig. Best carbs: green&yellow above-ground vegetables, but no corn. No processed carbs-health claims mostly bogus. For type ii, victoza (liraglutide) +/- symlin, titrated up by user, not md, can be very helpful. I have seen hba1c ?from >11 to <6.0 in a few months.

Surgery: Bariatric surgery can cure diabetes. Those likely to reverse diabetes are those with a disease duration of less than 5 years, a bmi of less than 45, an a1c of less than 7.9 , and a c-peptide of over 3.
