Change pronation/sup: For pronation medial heel wedges can externally rotate the leg and offload the medial compartment of the knee. For supination lateral wedges work best when placed under the forefoot.

Usually: A flatfoot would cause pressure on the inner knees so a heel wedge that reduces the flatfoot would help reduce stress on the knee.

Foot orthotics can give some relief. This is definitely not a guarantee and i have found over the years that they provide minimal help. If you have significant medial knee pain from arthritis there are several better nonsurgical and surgical options to improve your quality of life. Happy to discuss further. Bio mechanics of the lower extremity. A full custom orthotic would help through the phase of gate with heal contact and beyond. By placing a heel wedge you’re basically guessing at best that this will work. Over-the-counter orthotics may provide relief. Seeing a podiatrist that specializes in sports medicine should be able to resolve this with a custom orthotics
