A member asked:

Cardiac cath vs. 64 slice cat scan--which tells what?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

They both : Evaluate for coronary atherosclerosis. The short version is 64 slice ct is excellent at determining whether or not atherosclerosis (blockages ) are present. It is not as good in determining the extent or percentage of the blockage(yet). Cardiac cath remians the gold standard for determining the extent of stenosis and subsequent angioplasty/stent.
