Are you allowed to drink alcohol with orlistat?

Yes, but...: Most studies have shown that orlistat does not interfere with alcohol metabolism (the body's ability to break down alcohol). However, alcohol is high in empty calories and orlistat is a drug for weight loss. So, although drinking alcohol while taking this drug is not currently contraindicated, it is not wise as you are consuming added calories while simultaneously trying to reduce calories.

Yes, sorta: Some forms of alcohol (kahlua) do contain fat, and fat is what is to be avoided with orlistat. However, if you are on orlistat to lose weight, as i assume you are, alcohol is not your friend either. Alcohol has 8 calories per gram (sugar has 4, fat has 9), so it is a major calorie source - a standard drink has 250 calories just from alcohol.
