Not necessary to: No medical contra-indications to colonoscopy during menstruation, but would avoid tampons as may interfere with exam at time of scope insertion. If severe cramps are part of your normal cycle, these may seem more severe with the increased colon contractions brought on by your prep.

Patient preference: Some patients will and some do not reschedule as it is up to the patient. Menustruating solely is not a contraindication to canceling or rescheduling a colonoscopy
