If current: death.: Meningoccocal meningitis is a life threatening bacterial illness of the central nervous system lining called the meninges. I suspect your question is, if one has this disease as a young adult (most common age), and recovers, what are late term effects as an older adult. As far as i'm aware, if one has a full recovery after the acute event, there are not likely to be side effects later in life.

Define later ?: This can kill you within 12 hours as an initial event or produce injuries to limbs/skin/organs that are apparent in the first days/weeks of the illness.Once cured, the injuries would heal to some extent but may produce impairments in function from scarring. This would be like cerebral palsy in that the injury is stable but trouble disability may increase.
