A member asked:

My friend has aplastic anemia, how long does he have to live?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: In aplastic anemia, people make little or no blood cells. The risk to life depends on how severe the low blood counts are. Mild aa might do well without treatment, but severe aa is immediately life threatening. There are very effective therapies available using immunosuppression or bone marrow transplant.
