How long should one wait to check if pregnant when missing a period?

Within 1 wk: Often, if your cycle is regular and you miss a period (and that you have been having relations), the chance of being pregnant is good. Often, the hpt will trun positive within a week. If not by a week, i would recheck another hpt in 3-5 days. If not by then, likely you are not pregnant. If positive, congrats and good luck.
