A member asked:

Does anyone know about preventing bacterial vaginitis recurrence?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Recurrent BV: After initial therapy, most women with a history of recurrent BV benefit from suppressive therapy to remain symptom-free. Any patient with more than 3 documented episodes of BV in the previous 12 months should be offered a long-term maintenance regimen consisting of Metronidazole gel. Some studies have shown a decreased recurrence with use of condoms or periods of abstinence.
