Are skelaxin (metaxalone) and soma similar?

Similar: Both medications are considered muscle relaxants. Skelaxin(metaxalone) and soma( carisprodol) are used for acute pain and muscle spasm. Sometimes people will use the medication more chronically. However, Soma (carisoprodol) does have the potential for abuse.
