Both mom & babies: Carrying multiple babies puts the mom and babies at increased risks of complications. These pregnancies are at a higher risk of developing diabetes, pre-eclampsia, abnormalities of the placentas, and problems with fetal growth--to name a few. Make sure you are seeing an obstetrician experienced in multiples and get referred to maternal fetal medicine (mfm) obstetrician as needed.
