Yes and no: There is no treatment for acne scars that results in flawless skin, regardless of skin color. That said, dark skin does present unique challenges because it is more susceptible to pigment disturbance. You can begin with topical creams aimed at texture and pigment such as salicylic acid, aha, retinoids, and bleaching agents. A fractionated erbium laser may be helpful if your skin isn't too dark.

Improvement : It is generally not possible to completely "get rid of" pigmentary changes like melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in skin of color. Combination therapy is typical and includes use of topicals like hydroquinone, retin-a, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, ndyag laser and activefx fractional resurfacing. Consult with a cosmetic surgeon or dermatologist who specialises in pigment issues.
