Is it abnormal to have sharp pain in the right side of my belly after in insertion of an iud?

Not Persistent: Insertion of an iud can sometimes release prostaglandins which can cause spasm of the uterus and some pain, but generally relieved with anti-inflammatory like Motrin or aleve (naproxen). Should not persist.
