A member asked:

If your intestines don't absorb vitamin d, can you do surgery on them to make them absorb it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why not absorbed?: Surgery won't help vitamins get better absorbed by the small intestine. The issue may be whether someone not absorbing vitamins could have an underlying malabsorption disorder like celiac sprue or crohn' s disease. Please discuss this with your doctor.
