Chronic alcoholics: Who possess thiamine deficiency can develop confusion, disorientation, hallucinations, double vision, jerking of the eyes, imbalance, incoordination, even drowsiness and coma. The korsakoff issues can develop later, with memory loss, loss of organizational skills, apathy, confabulation. The syndrome can be assisted with thiamine replacement, but often the success is suboptimal.
