Good question: You should not be....See a podiatrist or a dermatologist. Without a picture, it is hard to know exactly what we are dealing with.

Missing skin: Loss of the outer layers of skin could be from a number of causes including maceration (or the skin being waterlogged), blister formation from excess friction, or athlete's foot.
