Tincture of Time: Acute flare ups are typically self-limited. If there is a thrombosed hemorrhoid this too will also go away althought you may end up with a tag of extra tissue. Repeated flare ups can lead to a prominence of extra hemorrhoidal tissue that will not go away and may need surgical intervention. Avoid constipation and use good bowel habits. No reading on the toilet.

Yes, mostly: Hemorrhoids result from constipation and are best avoided by using fiber in your diet with plenty of water. You can also add natural products like fruit juices colace (docusate sodium) or senekot. When you have taken the pressure off of these stretched veins long enough, they shrink again.

They wont: Surgery or ligation/ banding are the only options for permanent removal; however this is only recommended after trying other rx, & only if the symptoms are really bad. Preventing constipation can help releive symptoms greatly.

No one answer: If you increase the water and fiber intake it will help. Constipation is one thing that can make hemorrhoids stay longer. Warm water sitz baths can help. How long, it if you can do these things, it might be shorter than if you did not.
