Talk to your doc!: First, change your lifestyle, eg diet & exercise. Regular exercise is key. So is eating better (you know what that means but no fad diets - consider dash & mediterranean diets). Try to lose a few pounds, not major amounts, even 10-15# will do the trick. If this isn't enough, your doc will talk to you about medications, like thiazides, ace inhibitors, arb, beta blockers, calcium channel blocker, etc.
