A member asked:

Am i supposed to use a custom moldable orthotic brace for my spinal decompression treatment?

Not necessary: Following a lumbar discectomy the use of a generic back support is use by some patients, but most do not require any support. There normally is no spinal instability that may require custom brace support . Once the wound heal, stretching and strengthening exercises is the treatment of choice. Custom moldable braces really when constantly will led lead to muscle weakness.

DPM Evaluation: Hello: many patients benefit in using a foot orthotic to stabilize the spine while going being treated with spinal decompression. Please make an appointment with a podiatrist to be evaluated. Best regards. Mark reed, dpm www.Footpain.Org.
