More info needed.: The decision for valve replacement surgery (or any surgery for that matter), is a very complicated decision that involves looking at all aspects of one's health, not just one disease. Best to have a frank discussion with your primary care doctor and surgeon.

It depends: There are four valves in the heart; most commonly we would be looking at the aortic valve and the mitral valve in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). Decison making about the timing of valve repair or replacement, and the risk vs benefit assessment of any particular treatment is best made by an experienced multidisciplinary Heart Team including a cardiologist and a cardiac surgeon.
