Navels don't hurt: A navel (belly button) is the scar where the umbilical cord was attached. It normally doesn't hurt. It is attached a little deeper than just to the skin, so it might hurt after some accidental trauma or over-exercising. Otherwise, a primary care doctor should evaluate to see if there is a problem in the skin around it, in the muscles next to it, or in the intestines underneath it.
