HUS or Dehydration: Most kidney failure can cause constipation. Some forms of hemolytic uremic syndrome follow certain infectious forms of diarrhea. Also any severe diarrhea that produces significant dehydration can cause kidney failure if blood flow to the kidneys becomes compromised.
